We Are Created in the Image of God

Finding Your Identity in Christ

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; make and female, He created them.

We are made in the parts - body, soul and spirit. And each work together. When you have a bad thought or unforgiveness in the soul area (the mind), it affects the spirit and body of a person.

He have us a human spirit so that we can relate to Him. If you look at nature around us, many items created by God are in 3 parts. A tree has trunk, roots and leaves.

The soul includes our mind to know God. It is the intellect part of the 3 part which thinks and reasons and makes conclusions and choices in life. The emotions is also tied into the soul area of the mind.

The spirit is the part that communicates with God in the spirit but the enemy is also made up of spirit who also project thoughts in our head. That is why it is important to know who we are in Christ so that you don't believe the lies of the enemy.

The body, related to the tree, is the part that needs nutrition to survive (food and water). The spirit of man resides in a body. The spirit lives forever but the body dies and goes back to dust. Also the body is the temple of the holy spirit of God.

Your true image is in your soul but many times, as humans, looks at the body to be the image of God.

The cross is the instrument of death for our old nature and identity.  When Christ died, our old sinful nature died with Him.  Rom. 6:6, 2 Cor. 5:17.

Discovering Your Identity in Christ

When we receive Christ, we are given a brand new identity.  Finding your identity in Christ:

  • totally and completely forgiven eph. 1:7; col. 2:13-14
  • completely accepted (Rom. 15:7; Eph. 1:4)
  • absollutely righteous in Christ (Eph 4:24; 2 Cor. 5:21)
  • perfect in Christ (Col. 1:22)
  • holy and blameless (Col. 1:22)
  • comlete, whole and adequate (Col. 2:10)
  • possessing the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16);
Our spirit is now indwelling by God's spirit:

  • our spirit has been sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13)
  • we are now one spirit with Christ (1 Cor. 6:17)
  • our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16

Finding Your Identity in Christ

When we receive a new identity:

Our body/Soul - temple is filled with the Holy Spirit
Our Mind, will and emitons is being renewed by the empowering of the Holy Spirit
Our Spirit - no longer separated from God but now have the ability to hear and get revelation from God.

Unfortunately, Satan attempts to tempt us by appealing to the memory of the old nature to entice us to walk in our old ways (the flesh) rather than by the Spirit.  His strategy is to deceive us into believing that we have not been changed.

Satan uses the world system to deceive us into believing h is lie as truth.  Especially our past thoughts, past mistakes and past issues.  Through making us believe we are not truly forgiven by throwing guilt, etc.

Only through Christ and through the spirit do we have the power to overcome our past and live in the present and move into the future of His high calling.  He has a plan and a purpose for you to fulfill on earth.

Satan gets you to believe the opposite of God's Word.  So, who are you going to believe.  What others say about you, what your thoughts (mind and will and emotions) tell you which can deceive you greately.  That is why it is very important to know God's word and to know who you are through God's word to discern truth and not believe the lies of the enemy.

Our soul continually needs to be renewed with truth and filled with God's spirit (Rom. 12:1-2; Eph. 5:18)

His love for us

"God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans 5:8-10

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39

"Whom have I in heaven but You?

And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

My flesh and my heart fail;

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:25-26

"In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." 1 John 4:9-11

"...humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brethren that are in the world.

"But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever." 1 Peter 5:6-11

His love in us

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:5-8

"...that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory..." Ephesians 3:17-21

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

His love through us

"...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head -- Christ...." Ephesians 4:14-15

"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

“I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

“...if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. ... But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

“...And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?" Luke 6:27-41

"Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things..." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

"Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and a good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work." 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

"To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." Revelation 1:5-6

His love forever!

"I have set the Lord always before me;

Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;

My flesh also will rest in hope. ...

You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:8-9, 11

how to find peace with god

If you have not been saved or doubt your salvation, then please watch video and receive Christ in your life and allow Him to wash you clean. Going to church does not get you saved. You must deliberately ask Jesus into your heart.

Step #1 You Must Believe in Jesus

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:31

Step #2 You Must Confess Your Sins

You must acknowledge that you are a sinner and you want Jesus to wash your sins away. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Step #3 You Must Repent (Turn away from your sins)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel. Mark 1:15

Step #4 You Must Confess Jesus Before Men

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

Step #5 You Must Accept the Gift of Salvation

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation 2 Corinthians 6:2

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come in the Name of Jesus. I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, into this world to die and for raising Him from the dead so that I can have everlasting life.

I recognize Jesus as my Savior and as the Lord of my life. I repent of my sins and I forgive those who have wronged me. I believe in my heart and I will confess openly my belief in Jesus. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life.

I receive this gift by faith, In Jesus' name, Amen

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents that over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance." -Jesus
