Father God Transforms Us by Renewing Our Minds

4 Biblical Steps for Renewing the Mind

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind by washing of the Word

Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed (changed) by the renewing of your mind

God has provided a way to free us from our old, corrupted belief system. God tells us to no longer walk or live by the same futile thinking. He has given us His Word so we can change our beliefs and experience healing and change in our lives. How do we do this:

be transformed by the renewing of your mind

4 biblical Steps to transform your mind

1. Find scriptures in what the Lord has to say about you. His love for you, his thoughts over you, etc.

2. Meditate on God's Word as truth.

3. When you have a thought opposite of God's belief over you, then cast down the vain imagination according to 2 Corinthians 10:5.

4. Take scriptures and quote God's Word and truth over the lie from the enemy.

That means recognizing the lies we believe, renouncing and rejecting them, replacing them with God's truth, and redirecting our thoughts to reflect our new beliefs.

This is how you put out the fiery darts from the enemy's lies. This is how change occurs as we allow God to renew our minds (beliefs).

Remember the Lord loves you so much, and you are the apple of his eye - Psalm 17:8. You are his creation - Romans 1:20. He is the king of the universe, so you are a royal priesthood - 1 Pet. 2:9. Also, he does not make junk.

overcoming negative thoughts

We must reject those false beliefs (lies from the enemy) before the truth can change our lives. The more you stand on God's word, the more His word will become truth. But it takes action from you to apply God's word to put out those lies called fiery darts - Ephesians 6:10-16.

The root problem is our corrupted belief system; we don't have to continue believing these lies.

The process of renewing our minds is not a matter of deep introspection, nor a matter of just replacing our negative thoughts (projected from Satan's kingdom) with positive ones. Renewing the mind involves relating to God and depending on Him to reveal the lies and teach us what is true.

Renewal is possible only through the work of the Holy Spirit. Removing the enemy's lies and renewing the mind with the Word of God should bridge your relationship with him.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things...

John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.

When we renew our minds, the result is peace because God's truth always brings peace. But it also brings healing and deliverance to our minds, wills, and emotions. When our minds, wills, and emotions are healed, our behavior changes as well. Not only that, but how we think about God, others, and ourselves is transformed.

Allowing the truth of God's Word to change our belief system does not alter our past, but it will transform our lives and give us hope and wisdom for the future.

Many times, self-pity is the super glue that holds you in bondage to your past and makes you unable to move forward in the high callings of God and purposes.  God's Word, as truth, can free us to not live in self-pity.

A self-pity is a form of unforgiveness towards others. It is not tearing up the debt of what others did to you.  This is an excellent time to ask the Lord to search your heart for anyone you have not forgiven.  You see, unforgiveness brings separation between you, others, and God.

Remember, God is always present, full of compassion and grace, and willing to heal our broken hearts and lives from the past. He desires more than we do to fill our lives with His hope, joy, and peace. Past issues of unforgiveness and false lies rob you of the quality of life that Jesus promises.

Questions:

1.  What behaviors or habits in your life are contributing to your problem?
2.  How is your behavior affecting your relationships with others?
3.  What prevailing thoughts are running through your mind (remember, not all our thoughts are our own) when you think about your unique problem?
4.  Name one significant negative life experience that has shaped your beliefs.

5. List the beliefs formed from that life experience:

a.  Who am I? ___________________________________
b.  Whom can I trust? ________________________________
c. What is good or bad? ________________________________
d. What am I worth? ______________________________
e. What is my purpose in life? _______________________________

6. How have these beliefs been reinforced over the years?
7.  How are these beliefs still manifested in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and relationships?
