Attributes of God

Twelve Attributes of God online sermons and more

When we speak of God's attributes, we are talking about those characteristics that help us to understand who He truly is. What follows is a thorough yet incomplete list and summary of His attributes. God is unlike anything or anyone we could ever know or imagine. He is one of a kind, unique, and without comparison.nbsp; Included are songs to play on each attribute of God.

The Attributes of God - Part 1

Knows EVERYTHING

(v2) When I go
(v2) What I think
(v3) What I do
(v4) What I say
His Knowledge = too high
Ps 139:1-6
(Spurgeon's Note)

"There never was a time in which we were unknown to God, and there never will be a moment in which we shall be beyond His observation...This is a fact to be remembered every moment: sitting down to consider or rising up to act, we are still seen, known, and read by Jehovah our Lord...Though Thou shouldst give a glance at my heart, and see me as one sees a passing meteor moving afar, yet Thou wouldst by that glimpse sum up all the meanings of my soul, so transparent is everything to Thy piercing glance....

The Lord judges our active life and our quiet life; he discriminates our actions and our repose and marks that in them which is good and also that which is evil. There is chaff in all our wheat, and the Lord divides them with unerring precision...This should fill us with awe so that we sin not; with courage so that we fear not; with delight so that we mourn not....

Behind us, God is recording our sins, or in grace, blotting out their remembrance; before us, God is foreknowing all our deeds and providing for all our wants. We cannot turn back and escape Him, for He is behind; we cannot go forward and outmarch Him, for He is before...Shall we not alter the figure and say that our heavenly Father has folded His arms around us and caressed us with His hand? It is even so with those who are by faith the children of the Most High...Such knowledge not only surpasses my comprehension but even my imagination....

Mount as I may, this truth is too lofty for my mind. It seems to be consistently above me, even when I soar into the loftiest regions of spiritual thought. Is it not so with every attribute of God? Can we attain to any idea of His power, His wisdom, His holiness? Our mind has no line with which to measure the Infinite. " (CHS)

Infinite in understanding

Ps 147:5 - Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

GOD HAS ALL POWER

Ge 18:14 "Is anything too difficult for the LORD?
Nothing is too complicated for Jehovah.

What impossible situation or task are you facing today? Ask yourself this question: Is it too difficult for God? Run to the Rock higher than you & take refuge in His tower of strength (Ps 61:2-3 Read Spurgeon's devotional). Cry out to the God of the impossible & rest in His perfect wisdom, timing & power.

The omnipotent God is your Source of strength - "You cannot serve Him in your strength. You can only serve Him in the strength He gives as you need it. Here, take the bread fish and feed the thousands. Never say that it is not enough (Mt 14:17)"

The omnipotent One "will multiply both the bread and the fish as it is broken and consumed. There will be more than you need. " (CHS)

Jer 32:17 'Ah Lord GOD! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens & the earth by Thy great power & by Thy outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee

Cf "Is the LORD'S power limited ?"Now you shall see whether My word will come true for you or not." Nu 11:23 (Read Spurgeon's devotional)

IMMUTABLE GOD NEVER CHANGES

Heaven & earth will perish, BUT He is ever the same & His years will not end.

"Of old Thou founded the earth & the heavens are the work of Thy hands. Even they will perish, but Thou dost endure & all of them will wear out like a garment like clothing Thou will change them & they will be changed. But Thou art the same & Thy years will not end. Ps 102:25-27

"Thou art the same...God, the same in essence & nature, the same in will & purpose, Thou dost change all other things as Thou pleaseth; but Thou art immutable in every respect..." (Spurgeon)

God does not change

For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed. Malachi 3:6

"It is well for us that, amidst all the variableness of life, there is One whom change cannot affect; One whose heart can never alter, and on whose brow mutability can make no furrows...The delight which the mariner feels, when, after having been tossed about for many a day, he steps again upon the solid shore, is the satisfaction of a Christian when, amidst all the changes of this troublous life, he rests the foot of his faith upon this truth-"I am the Lord, I change not." The stability which the anchor gives the ship when it has at last obtained a hold-fast, is like that which the Christian's hope affords him when it fixes itself upon this glorious truth. With God "is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." What ever his attributes were of old, they are now ...He has ever been the refuge of His people, their stronghold in the day of trouble, and He is their sure Helper still. He is unchanged in his love. He has loved his people with "an everlasting love"; he loves them now as much as ever he did, and when all earthly things shall have melted in the last conflagration, his love will still wear the dew of its youth. Precious is the assurance that He changes not! The wheel of providence revolves, but its axle is eternal love." (Spurgeon's full devotional)

Are you riding on storm tossed seas today? Then cast your anchor onto the Solid Rock of the glorious truth that His character changeth not - He was the refuge for David & He can be your Refuge from the storm (Isa 25:4) your stronghold in the day of trouble (Nah 1:7). Why? Because....Jesus Christ is the same yesterday & today & forever. Heb 13:8

God does not vary
Every good thing bestowed & every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (Js 1:17, cf Ro 11:29)

INCOMPREHENSIBLE

Man cannot plumb the depths or limits of God. Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?
Job 11:7

"Behold, these are the fringes of His ways, And how faint a word we hear of Him! But His mighty thunder, who can understand?" Job 26:14

Spurgeon "Every affliction is timed and measured. Every comfort is sent with a loving thoughtfulness that makes it precious. The Divine Mind exercises great thoughtfulness toward the Lord’s chosen. Nothing happens as the result of a remorseless fate. A living, thoughtful, and loving God orders all your circumstances in wisdom. Our heavenly Father knows what He is doing. Even when His way appears to be involved and complicated, and we cannot untangle the threads, the Lord sees all things clearly. His breadth exceeds the range of our vision; His depth baffles our profoundest thought."

God's wisdom & knowledge are deep - His Judgments unsearchable. His ways unfathomable

There must always be about the glorious Lord that is incomprehensible, and it is not for us to doubt because we cannot understand, but rather humbly to bow before His awesome presence in Whose verb hand is our breath.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom & knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments & unfathomable His ways! Ro 11:33

SELF-EXISTENT

depends on nothing for His existence

I AM WHO I AM

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM " & He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you." Ex 3:14

  • Father has life in Himself
  • Son has life in Himself

"For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; Jn 5:26

SELF-SUFFICIENT

brings about His will without help

"If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, & all it contains Ps 50:12

God does not need anything - we cannot give Him anything that is not already His. To obey is better than sacrifice.

"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven & earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands nor is He served by human hands as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life & breath & all things." Acts 17:24-25

INFINITE

no limits & The Heavens cannot contain

"But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven & the highest heaven cannot contain Thee. How much less this house which I have built ! 1Ki 8:27

Thus says JEHOVAH "Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? Isa 66:1

Great is JEHOVAH & highly to be praised, & His greatness is unsearchable Ps 145:3

"Worship should be somewhat like its object --Great praise for a great God. Praise is great when the song contains excellent matter, the hearts producing it are intensely fervent, and large numbers unite in the grand acclaim. No chorus is too loud, no orchestra too large, no psalm too lofty for the lauding of the Lord of Hosts...

The song should be founded upon search; hymns composed without thought are of no worth, and tunes upon which no pains have been spent are beneath the dignity of divine adoration. Yet when we meditate most and search most studiously, we shall still find ourselves surrounded with unknowable wonders, which will baffle all attempts to sing them worthily. The best adoration of the Unsearchable is to own Him to be so and close the eyes in reverence before the excessive light of His glory.

Not all the minds of all the centuries shall suffice to search out the unsearchable riches of God; He is past finding out, and, therefore, His deserved praise is still above and beyond all that we can render to Him.

God "Who does great & unsearchable things, Wonders without number. Job 5:9

God "Who does great things, unfathomable, & wondrous works without number." Job 9:10

TRANSCENDENT

Above creation

Exists totally apart from His creation

God's ways & thoughts are higher than man

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways & My thoughts than your thoughts. Isa 55:8 55:9

"It is He who sits above the vault of the earth & its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain & spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isa 40:22

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which Thou hast done, & Thy thoughts toward us. There is none to compare with Thee. If I would declare & speak of them, they would be too numerous to count. Ps 40:5 (Spurgeon note)

The LORD is high above all nations. His glory is above the heavens. Who is like Jehovah our God, Who is enthroned on high? Ps113:4 113:5 (SOVEREIGN

He is in total control & is Totally supreme.

God does whatever he pleases.

Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, in heaven & in earth, in the seas & in all deeps Ps 135:6 (Spurgeon's note)

Let all the earth fear Jehovah. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke & it was done. He commanded & it stood fast. Jehovah nullifies the counsel of the nations. He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of Jehovah stands forever; the plans of His heart from generation to generation. Ps 38:8 33:9 10 11
(Spurgeon v10 v 11)

He works all things after the counsel of His will Eph 1:11

His Purpose Will Be Established & He will accomplish all His good pleasure - what He begins, He brings to fruition because He is in total control.

"Remember the former things long past, for I am God, & there is no other. I am God & there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning & from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, 'My purpose will be established & I will accomplish all My good pleasure. Calling a bird of prey from the east (Cyrus the king) the man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it." Isa 46:9-11

Spurgeon: "World events are not tangled, confused, or perplexing to God...Jehovah’s power is apparent, from the least to the greatest, for God is in all and rules all. He guides the grain of dust in the March wind and the planets in their immeasurable pathways. He steers each drop of spray beaten back from the face of the rock. He leads the North Star. God is the dictator of destinies.

He appoints both the ideas and the end. He is the King of kings, ruling rulers, and guiding counselors. He is the same in the crash of battle or the hush of peace. He is the same in famine or in the joy of an abundant harvest. He is Lord. He does according to His will, not only in heaven but among the inhabitants of this lower world. The storm may rage, but all is well, for our Captain is the governor of storms.

He who trod the waves of the Galilean lake is at the helm, and at His command, winds and waves are quiet (Mt 14:27). Courage, dear friend. The ever-merciful Lord has appointed every moment of sorrow and every pang of suffering. If He ordains the number ten, it can never rise to eleven, nor should you desire that it shrink to nine. The Lord’s time is best. The span of your life is measured to a hair’s width. Restless soul, God ordains all, so let the Lord have His way.

El Elyon (notes) "the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind & bestows it on whomever He wishes.'
Da 4:32b (cf Da 5:21a 21b)

Does according to His will in host of heaven & among inhabitants of the earth."All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the host of heaven & among the inhabitants of earth & no one can ward off His hand Or say to Him, 'What have You done?' Da 4:35

Nebuchadnezzar testifies to God's sovereignty: "Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride." Da 4:37

RIGHTEOUS

Always does right

"The Rock ! His work is perfect, for all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness & without injustice, Righteous & upright is He. Dt 32:4

Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness & Thy law is truth Ps 119:142 (See Torrey's Topic)
Spurgeon writes that God's "righteousness is unchanging and endures from age to age. This is the joy and glory of the saints, that what God is, he always will be, and his mode of procedure towards the sons of men is immutable: having kept his promise and dealt out justice among his people, he will do so world without end "

JUST GOD

Fair in all HIS actions

(Click song= God as Judge)
(Click song= He Will Abundantly Pardon)

God is just & though He forgives iniquity, He does not exempt the guilty
'The LORD is slow to anger & abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity & transgression, but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.'
Nu 14:18

JUSTICE is the foundation of His throne

Righteousness & justice are the foundation of Thy throne; Lovingkindness & truth go before Thee. Ps 89:14 As Spurgeon reminds us "No creature can eventually be unjustly dealt with under his dominion, and his kingdom ruleth over all."
(Torrey's topic)

GOD IS MERCIFUL

Lovingkindness Compassion

EXHIBITS Active compassion AGAINST THOSE WHO OFFEND HIM

(Click song= God of Mercy)

Lovingkindness (mercy) is Thine, O Lord, for Thou dost recompense a man according to his work. Ps 62:12

Spurgeon on God's mercy: "This tender attribute sweetens the grand thought of His power: the divine strength will not crush us, but will be used for our good."

Lovingkindness goes before Him. Righteousness & justice are the foundation of Thy throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before Thee.
Ps 89:14

Spurgeon says: Mercy &truth shall go before thy face. They are the harbingers & heralds of the Lord; He calls these to the front to deal with guilty & changeful men. He makes them in the person of the Lord Jesus to be His ambassadors & so poor, the guilty man can endure the presence of his righteous Lord. If mercy had not paved the way, the coming of God to any man must have been swift destruction."

He looked upon their (His people Israel) distress when He heard their cry & He remembered His covenant for their sake & relented according to the greatness of His lovingkindness.
Ps 106:44 45
Spurgeon: "The Lord is so full of grace that he has not only mercy but mercies, yea a multitude of them"

Gracious is the LORD & righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate. Ps 116:5
Spurgeon comments, "See how the attribute of righteousness seems to stand between two guards of love: -- gracious, righteous, merciful. The sword of justice is scabarded in a jeweled sheath of grace."

God's Lovingkindness is very practical - David prays that God would "Wondrously show Thy lovingkindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at Thy right hand from those who rise up against them." Ps 17:7 Spurgeon asks, "What deep depression some of us have had! We have gone to the bottom of the mountains, and the bars of the earth seemed to hold us there...

Pray for this experience: “Show Your marvelous lovingkindness” (Ps 17:7). He will do it! He will bring you up, out, and through—not necessarily how you would like to come, but in the best way. Always expect the unexpected when you are dealing with God. Look to see in God and from God what you never saw before. When you are dealing with Him who is omnipotent, faithful, and accurate, the things that seem utterly impossible will be those most likely to happen. God grant you grace, dear friend, to use this meditation and these verses as the means of deliverance from deep trouble.

For He says to Moses, "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God Who has mercy. Rom. 9:14-16

LONG-SUFFERING

RIGHTEOUS anger IS slow TO BE KINDLED

Slow to anger Nu 14:18
(Torrey's topic)

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9

WISE GOD

(Click song= Gods wisdom - Treasures of Wisdom)

LOVING GOD

EXHIBITS A LOVE NOT BASED ON THE WORTH OR MERIT OF THE OBJECT OF HIS LOVE

Loves with an everlasting love

(Click30+ hymns= See God is Love)
The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, "I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. Jer 31:3 Spurgeon devotional.

God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Ro 5:8

God is love
The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1Jn 4:8 (Spurgeon devotional).

He loved us so much that He allowed God the Son to die for us even though we did not deserve it.

GOOD GOD

God gives ACCORDING to His excellent will.

(Spurgeon)

God is good

Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting
Ps 106:1

Spurgeon: "To us needy creatures, the goodness of God is the first attribute which excites praise, and that praise takes the form of gratitude. We praise the Lord when we thank him for what we have received from his goodness. Let us never be slow to return unto the Lord our praise; to thank him is the least we can do -- let us not neglect it."

Ps 68:10 "Thou didst provide in Thy goodness for the poor, O God." Spurgeon reminds us that "All God’s gifts are prepared in advance and reserved for needs foreseen. He knows our future needs, and out of the fullness of Christ Jesus, He provides from His goodness. You may, therefore trust Him for all your future needs. He has infallible foreknowledge about every one of them...

God has foreknowledge of all that His wandering children require. When those needs arise, the supplies are ready. It is goodness that He has prepared for the poor in heart. Goodness, and goodness only. “My grace is sufficient for you” (2Co 12:9)... Is your heart heavy? God knew it would be. The comfort your heart wants is treasured in the sweet assurance of our text. You are poor and needy, but He knows your need and has the exact blessing you require. Plead this promise, believe it, and you will obtain fulfillment."

The LORD is good to all, & His mercies are over all His works. Ps 145:9 (Spurgeon note)

The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, & He knows those who take refuge in Him.
Nahum 1:7

He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished Ex. 34:6 34:7

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Romans 1:18 (Torrey's topic)

GOD IS TRUTHFUL

WHATEVER GOD SAYS IS...truth

God of truth

(Play: Let God be True!)

Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth. Ps 31:5 (Spurgeon)

GOD IS FAITHFUL

ALWAYS TRUE TO PROMISES

God keeps covenant

"Know therefore that the LORD Thy God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps His covenant & His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him & keep His commandments Dt 7:9
(Torrey's topic)

La 3:22 23 "The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness."

Spurgeon: "So great that there has never been an exception. Our God has had billions of people to deal with through the ages. Yet there does not stand under heaven’s cover, or above the stars, or in hell itself a single soul who can say that God is not absolutely faithful."

God remains faithful
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. 2Ti 2:13

Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. 1Th 5:24 (Spurgeon's devotional)

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful Heb 10:23

Ps 77:8 Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?
Spurgeon: "When you are in distress, take a promise and see if it is true. If you have nothing to eat, take this promise: “Bread will be given him, his water will be sure” (Is33:16). When there is nothing in the kitchen, say, “I will see if God will keep this promise.” If He does, do not forget it. Set it down in your diary, or mark it in your Bible. Be like the old saint who put T and P beside the promises. She told her pastor that it meant tried and proven. When she was again in distress, she believed that God would help."

GOD IS JEALOUS OF US

Unwilling to share what is rightfully His

God = jealous God
"You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD Thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, Ex 20:5 (cf 3 uses in Deut)

Nahum 1:2 A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; The LORD is avenging & wrathful. The LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries & He reserves wrath for His enemies." Spurgeon "Believer, your Lord is jealous of your love. Did He choose you? Then He cannot bear that you would choose another. Did He buy you with His own blood? Then He cannot endure that you would think you are your own or that you belong to this world. He loved you with such a love that He would sooner die than you should perish. He cannot endure anything standing between Him and your heart’s love."

God's name is "Jealous"

You shall not worship any other god, for the LORD, Whose name is Jealous (Qanna'), is a jealous God Ex 34:14

See also Dt 32:16,21 1Ki 14:22 Ps 78:58 Ezek 8:3 16:38,42 23:25 36:5 38:19

"Jealous" does not refer to the shallow human emotion, but speaks of God's intolerance to divided loyalty by those who are in Covenant with Him. What "gods" are you "flirting" with? (cf Js 4:4,4:5 1Jn 2:15, 16 17, Gal 6:7, 6:8)

Dependence on God

Distortion of God’s Love Leads to Problems

Learn Dependence on God and The Benefits of Dependence on God

Our relationship with God is distorted whenever we don’t understand the Gospel in what God did for us through Jesus.

We should not look at salvation as a way to escape hell. It should be looked at as a relationship with God through Jesus. When we look at salvation as a free ticket to Heaven, the results are as follows:

• Continuing to live independently of God
• Neglecting the relationship He wants us to enjoy now and
• Looking to life’s circumstances and others for our happiness.

Living dependent on God

Isaiah 11:1-5

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. And He will delight in fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear; But with righteousness, He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips, He will slay the wicked. Also, righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist. (Isaiah 11:1-5, NASB).

As we depend upon the Spirit of God,
He effectively leads us closer to Himself
and makes our lives more fruitful.

Purpose

To make us more conscious of God's will and increasingly dependent upon the Holy Spirit in all we do.

We look to God in faith as totally dependent on him. We need to be self-sufficient. We trust him to provide our needs and guide us in life. Knowing that an all-powerful God is looking out for us, we have day-to-day security. He knows our needs better than we know, whether for daily bread or emergency assistance. We do not need to worry because Dad will take care of us.

We have confidence and courage. We can preach with boldness, without fear of persecution. Even though we may be killed, we do not fear, for we have a Dad no one can take away from us.

We can face our trials with optimism. Our Dad allows difficulties to discipline us so we will be better in the long run (Hebrews 12:5-11). We are confident that he works in our lives and will not disown us.

The key is how much we yield our lives to the wonderful Spirit of God. After all, we have been trained to live with our eyes, ears, and minds all our lives.

When a person is spirit–dependent, he will live life differently. He lives in communion with the Father, knowing his identity is in God and not man. How many perform for man to get your needs met but never does.
Second, living dependent is an incredible experience of feeling loved, His presence of love, knowing you are protected by hearing his voice, and Him sharing the most intimate things with you.

When there are distorted views of God’s love, this still drives you to be independent from God and in performance to man. When God loves and accepts you for who you are. See the video for depending on God verses and scroll down below.

When you believe what took place on the cross for you, it changes (transforms you) to a higher life of peace and joy experiencing God. You know you can trust Him in all circumstances and won’t give into the enemy's lies when things go wrong. God strengthens you during hard times.

Biblical Scriptures - God's Love for us

His love for us

"God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans 5:8-10

Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

His love through us

"...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head -- Christ...." Ephesians 4:14-15

To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

God's love for you scriptures:

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 4:9-12

By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

John 13:34-35

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us

Romans 8:37-39

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Galatians 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

Psalm 37:28

For the LORD loves justice, And does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever; But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

Proverbs 8:17

"I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Deuteronomy 7:9

"Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

1 John 3:1

See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

We Are Created to Be a Friend of God

WE are created to be a friend of god

We Are Created to Be A Friend of God

Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind

The Good News

Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have a relationship with God the Father. Jesus was sent because the Father knew no man can be perfect, so he sent his son to forgive us of ALL our sins and live a meaningful life of joy and peace.

Unfortunately, many of us have been hurt, betrayed, and used by others and still live miserable and defeated lives without peace and joy.

Our belief system still controls how we live, think, feel, and choose. Today is the first step to change this corrupt belief system.

We Were Created to Be a Friend of God

Finding Peace in God

We are complete only when we are in a relationship with God:

  • The man was created to have an intimate love relationship with His Creator. Matt. 22:37; John 15:9, 13
  • The man was created in God's image to know and enjoy God. Gen. 1:27; Pslam 16:11
  • The man was designed to live dependent upon God. John 15:5
  • Man was created to contain God's very life and live by that life. John 10:10
But somehow, many of us believed the lie causing tragic separation in man's relationship with God.... but this did not stop God from loving us.  He will never stop loving you, saved or not saved.

The only difference between being saved and not saved is that if you are saved, you become a child of God, a royal priesthood, and loved with everlasting love.  Most of all, you get all the benefits and promises and escape eternal death and torment. Not only that, you receive the Love of God through what Jesus demonstrated on the Cross.

Satan is the one who keeps you separated from God by reminding you who hurt you or tries to get you to blame God for your misfortunes.

Remember the story of Adam and Eve!  What caused her to eat from the tree?  Was it because Satan made her believe that God was holding back on her?  Isn't Satan the accuser of us, God, and others?

His purpose is to get you to believe lies to keep you separated and not fulfill your destiny or the high purposes God has for you.

Their sin separated them from the love of God, but God never stopped loving them and made a way through his son.

We were all born spiritually dead and separated from God.  When we learn about Jesus and invite Him in our hearts, then we are no longer separated, but the lies we believe from Satan do separate us from the truth.

You see, God took it upon Himself to restore our relationship with Him through his son.  He planned to restore us to a right relationship with Him.  Eph. 2:4-5

Thank goodness, through Jesus Christ, he gave us life as a payment for the sins of the whole world through Jesus Christ. His perfect sacrifice satisfied the Father because the Father God of Heaven wants a relationship with you.

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

Through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, God has forgiven us when we invite Jesus into our hearts.  When we fall short, we have access to the son for our forgiveness of sin.

Col. 2:13-14 "13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

It is a free gift to all who will receive the Son through believing and trusting in Jesus.

John 3:17-18 "17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Through this, we are deeply and unconditionally loved by God.

You might have grown up in a conditional loved home, but your Heavenly Father loves you unconditionally.  You do not have to work or perform for his love.  He loves you just for who you are.  Remember, He created you, and you are made in His image.  Rom. 5:8

God totally and completely accepts you.  This means he accepts you just for who you are.  That means he receives us to Himself with pleasure and responds to us kindly.

Why the Corrupted Thinking

Why the Corrupted Thinking

Learn to renew your mind by the washing of the word to break down the corrupted thinking.

Break down personal belief systems that don't line up with God.

Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way which seems right to man, but its ends is the way of death."

Because we have no conscious understanding of God's truth as He defines you, we allow others to represent us through what they say or think about us. What they say and think is not eternal when God's thoughts of you are eternal. Plus, His truth overrides what others have said—parents, family, friends, peers, teachers, bosses, etc.

The number one area that corrupts our thinking of the Heavenly Father is our earthly father.

Did you have a father who was there for you, loved you unconditionally, or was part of your life?

Did you know your earthly father is the one who wakes up your spirit and instills security, self-worth, etc.?

Unfortunately, we formed our belief system apart from His truth through others. We have grown up living independently of God and relying on our own understanding - which has corrupted our belief system.

Unfortunately, Satan uses sinful men to harm us and to influence our thinking. His most excellent strategy is to deceive you with as many lies as possible so that he can keep you in bondage and separated from the Father's love for you.

John 10:10: "The thief (Satan) comes only to steal, kill and destroy.

2 Corinthians 4:4: "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

“I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

“...if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. ... But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High.

“...And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?" Luke 6:27-41

"Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things..." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

"Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and a good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work." 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

"To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." Revelation 1:5-6

His love forever!

"I have set the Lord always before me;

Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;

My flesh also will rest in hope. ...

You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:8-9, 11

how to find peace with god

If you have not been saved or doubt your salvation, then please watch video and receive Christ in your life and allow Him to wash you clean. Going to church does not get you saved. You must deliberately ask Jesus into your heart.

Step #1 You Must Believe in Jesus

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:31

Step #2 You Must Confess Your Sins

You must acknowledge that you are a sinner and you want Jesus to wash your sins away. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Step #3 You Must Repent (Turn away from your sins)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel. Mark 1:15

Step #4 You Must Confess Jesus Before Men

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

Step #5 You Must Accept the Gift of Salvation

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation 2 Corinthians 6:2

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come in the Name of Jesus. I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, into this world to die and for raising Him from the dead so that I can have everlasting life.

I recognize Jesus as my Savior and as the Lord of my life. I repent of my sins and forgive those who have wronged me. I believe in my heart and will confess my belief in Jesus openly. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life.

I receive this gift by faith; in Jesus' name, Amen.

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents that over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance." -Jesus.

Father God Transforms Us by Renewing Our Minds

4 Biblical Steps for Renewing the Mind

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind by washing of the Word

Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed (changed) by the renewing of your mind

God has provided a way to free us from our old, corrupted belief system. God tells us to no longer walk or live by the same futile thinking. He has given us His Word so we can change our beliefs and experience healing and change in our lives. How do we do this:

be transformed by the renewing of your mind

4 biblical Steps to transform your mind

1. Find scriptures in what the Lord has to say about you. His love for you, his thoughts over you, etc.

2. Meditate on God's Word as truth.

3. When you have a thought opposite of God's belief over you, then cast down the vain imagination according to 2 Corinthians 10:5.

4. Take scriptures and quote God's Word and truth over the lie from the enemy.

That means recognizing the lies we believe, renouncing and rejecting them, replacing them with God's truth, and redirecting our thoughts to reflect our new beliefs.

This is how you put out the fiery darts from the enemy's lies. This is how change occurs as we allow God to renew our minds (beliefs).

Remember the Lord loves you so much, and you are the apple of his eye - Psalm 17:8. You are his creation - Romans 1:20. He is the king of the universe, so you are a royal priesthood - 1 Pet. 2:9. Also, he does not make junk.

overcoming negative thoughts

We must reject those false beliefs (lies from the enemy) before the truth can change our lives. The more you stand on God's word, the more His word will become truth. But it takes action from you to apply God's word to put out those lies called fiery darts - Ephesians 6:10-16.

The root problem is our corrupted belief system; we don't have to continue believing these lies.

The process of renewing our minds is not a matter of deep introspection, nor a matter of just replacing our negative thoughts (projected from Satan's kingdom) with positive ones. Renewing the mind involves relating to God and depending on Him to reveal the lies and teach us what is true.

Renewal is possible only through the work of the Holy Spirit. Removing the enemy's lies and renewing the mind with the Word of God should bridge your relationship with him.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things...

John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.

When we renew our minds, the result is peace because God's truth always brings peace. But it also brings healing and deliverance to our minds, wills, and emotions. When our minds, wills, and emotions are healed, our behavior changes as well. Not only that, but how we think about God, others, and ourselves is transformed.

Allowing the truth of God's Word to change our belief system does not alter our past, but it will transform our lives and give us hope and wisdom for the future.

Many times, self-pity is the super glue that holds you in bondage to your past and makes you unable to move forward in the high callings of God and purposes.  God's Word, as truth, can free us to not live in self-pity.

A self-pity is a form of unforgiveness towards others. It is not tearing up the debt of what others did to you.  This is an excellent time to ask the Lord to search your heart for anyone you have not forgiven.  You see, unforgiveness brings separation between you, others, and God.

Remember, God is always present, full of compassion and grace, and willing to heal our broken hearts and lives from the past. He desires more than we do to fill our lives with His hope, joy, and peace. Past issues of unforgiveness and false lies rob you of the quality of life that Jesus promises.

Questions:

1.  What behaviors or habits in your life are contributing to your problem?
2.  How is your behavior affecting your relationships with others?
3.  What prevailing thoughts are running through your mind (remember, not all our thoughts are our own) when you think about your unique problem?
4.  Name one significant negative life experience that has shaped your beliefs.

5. List the beliefs formed from that life experience:

a.  Who am I? ___________________________________
b.  Whom can I trust? ________________________________
c. What is good or bad? ________________________________
d. What am I worth? ______________________________
e. What is my purpose in life? _______________________________

6. How have these beliefs been reinforced over the years?
7.  How are these beliefs still manifested in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and relationships?

God's love for you scriptures

His love for us in scripture

"God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans 5:8-10

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39

"Whom have I in heaven but You?

And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

My flesh and my heart fail;

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:25-26

"In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." 1 John 4:9-11

"...humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brethren that are in the world.

"But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever." 1 Peter 5:6-11

His love in us

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:5-8

"...that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory..." Ephesians 3:17-21

"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
